What is a Puff Bar?
The Puff Bar ‘s been around for a very long time. In the early 20th century, the concept of the Puff Bar was devised by way of a man named Richard C. Laramy. This bar stool was designed to make it easier for people to smoke. These were not the first “pipe” style smoking devices though. Before the creation of the Puff Bar, smokers had to either sit on the floor of a smoky bar or stand up before a dirty grill.
In the past, all you did to smoke was inhaled through the mouth and blow into the air as if you were blowing out birthday candles. There is really no other method. Smoking became popular and smokers tried to get new ways to take action. Soon, smokers started using hinged, revolving devices that would let them smoke without having to sit back.
The initial devices came later on. They might rotate when you took a drag. The unit eventually evolved into the modern puff machine we know today. The earliest models were probably crafted from brass or steel and were mounted on bars set in the brick or stone abode.
Eventually, these evolved right into a contraption known as a hookah. Hookah’s are installed to your bathroom sink. Inside there is a water tube. The water fills up the tube and forces a continuing blast of water through the hookah.
Eventually, someone decided to attach the bar to a thing that was outside. This might prevent smoke from Juul Compatible Pods entering your home. These contraptions soon evolved into the modern-day bar and smokers could now sit back and revel in a smoke while they were working. Before the invention of the Puff Bar, this would not have been possible.
How the Puff Bar came about is shrouded in mystery. Some say that the inspiration came from an army officer named Captain William Blunt. When he was stationed at the Western Front, the weather was very cold and he wanted something warm to sit in. He might have looked at an old stove or something similar. One day, he took some materials and fashioned a Puff Bar out of these.
The initial bar that Blunt ever designed was considered by some to be crudely fashioned. It did not have a design that would allow visitors to smoke. This bar would not have the temperature controls that a smoker would need to use. It would not need the design that could allow smokers to pack their own cigarettes. The problem with this initial bar was that it could take an entire evening for somebody to make a single bowl of cigarettes.
As time went on, the theory for the modern-day bar evolved. It was no longer essential to have a chimney to be able to smoke. People were in a position to pack their very own cigarettes in tins and put them in the bank books. A smoker could pack his own and go on it with him to work.
The first “smoking room” to be built was not to resemble a bar at all, but instead, an antebellum plantation house. Smokers could go there after their day in the field and relax and smoke. As the use of the smoke pipe became more popular, so did the need for these things.
As the use of the smoke pipe evolved, so too did the construction of the tobacco pipe that was had a need to smoke. The tobacco pipes were made out of clay to help keep the smoke from floating away. They were often attached to the finish of each bar to help keep the smoking material within its pipe. The initial “tobacco pipes” were made to help cigarette smokers avoid lighting another cigarette on somebody else’s cigarette. In this way, they might continue smoking and avoid getting the taste of someone else’s cigarette.
The invention of the smoking bar changed all of this. Rather than the chimney being attached to the finish of the bar to help keep the smoke pipe from escaping, the bar became where all smokers could meet and socialize. This gave rise to what we know today as the “smoker’s club”. All smokers of cigarettes could join together in a common space and enjoy a good relaxing smoke while they discussed their day.
Although some individuals were concerned that the bar was essentially destined to become “smoker’s club”, this didn’t happen. There are still many places that allow smokers to get together and revel in each others company. You can find even places that focus on those that love the smell of burning wood or the sight of a fire. If you’re after a great new place to spend your Saturday afternoon, consider renting a puff bar. You will not regret it.
